Financial Planning

By the time family wealth makes it to the 3rd generation, nearly all of it has been diminished. A team from Hirtle Callaghan & Co needed to educate the rising generation on good financial practices.

This training was built for account managers to deliver to young and growing individuals to learn how to manage and invest their inheritance. It was designed from the team's content written by their subject matter experts. The program is broken out into several modules each focusing on a different aspect of financial literacy - from credit cards to retirement and savings accounts.

In this portfolio experience take a look at the portfolio calculator I developed with the use of JavaScript.

A financial investment firm wanted to target beneficiaries in the rising generation inheriting familial wealth, and provide education on good financial practices. The goals of this training program were to:

  • Assign individual modules to users one at a time with no set order, but have each module completion add to the overall completion goal.

  • Give Account Managers an easy way to deliver information to families and young clients.

  • Provide users the ability to practice applying the content and experience how their choices impact their financial goals..

Objectives & Goals

My Roles & Responsibilities

  • Design: I designed the program's branding from the company's guidelines and goals to reach a younger target audience. I went with the black background as many users now prefer their mobile devices and screens in dark mode. I also build out and designed the graphics for each of the modules included animated graph simulations.

  • Course Authoring: I built the entire eLearning through Articulate Storyline 360 with the use of states, variables, and conditions. In several instances I used JavaScript to execute more complex conditions with the variables I integrated into the program.

Process & Approach

  • Content Collection: The subject matter experts had their content mapped out, and I held meetings and interviews with the team to be able to map out each module.

  • Canva & Figma: I used both Canva and Figma to design the visual effects on each slide. This helped to implement good UI/UX practices. I was also able to create bespoke and fluid graphic simulations.

  • Adult Learning Theories: I worked to implement situational and problem based learning allowing the users to be able to make mistakes and immediately adjust their choices based on feedback.
